Plan Management is an NDIS-funded service that assists and supports participants with the funding in their plan. Plan managers look after your NDIS claims on your behalf, pay providers for you and keep you updated on the financial status of your plan.
Using a plan manager means having the flexibility to use providers that are or are not NDIS registered. Perhaps most importantly, it means not having the stress and time burden of handling the particulars around your funding yourself.

There are four options NDIS participants can choose from when it comes to managing their budget. By the end of March 2021, 52% of participants chose plan-management, 17% chose to be agency-managed, 22% were entirely self-managed and 9% were partly self-managing their plans. Each of the funding management options NDIS participants can choose from are outlined below.
Plan Managers help manage your NDIS Funding. We take care of claiming and paying your invoices and keep you updated on the financial status of your plan.
Using a plan manager provides more flexibility than with NDIA-management. You will have the flexibility to choose providers that are or are not NDIS registered.
Furthermore, you won’t have the time burden and stress of managing the financial administration yourself.
At Pacify, we ensure you remain as involved as you want. We want you to feel like you have absolute control of the funding in your plan and are here to assist and support you to do so.
A participant who chooses NDIA-management will have their funding looked after by the NDIA itself. The NDIA will take care of the payment of invoices for you.
However, it is the least flexible of the funding management options. You will only be allowed to use providers that are NDIS registered. Furthermore, you will need to obtain approval from the NDIA for all purchases, no matter how small.
Self-management can be compared to plan-management in terms of flexibility. You will not be limited to engaging only NDIS registered providers.
This option does however, mean handling all of the administration, transactions and communication yourself. You will be responsible for claiming and paying invoices correctly and ensuring you use the funding in your plan appropriately. The majority of participants choose plan-management over self-management.
You may want to have different components of your plan managed in different ways. For example, you may want to self-manage your consumables budget but have the remainder of your plan looked after by a plan manager.
This arrangement is discussed during your planning meeting.
